Pastor Lynn

Pastor Lynn

Pastor Lynn has served as pastor at Clifton Presbyterian Church since August 1995 following pastoral positions in Vienna, Virginia, (1 year), Adelphi, Maryland (2 years) and Bethesda, Maryland (8 years).  Pastor Lynn’s priorities in ministry include: pastoral care, preaching and teaching to invite individuals and the church into deeper growth in faith and fellowship as we wrestle with life’s deepest questions, opportunities and challenges; and engaging the congregation more deeply in mission and outreach in our community, our nation and our world.

Pastor Lynn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations from Denison University, and a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry degree both from Wesley Theological Seminary.  Before entering the ministry she was a program director and English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor in YMCA sponsored programs in Kumamoto, Japan. This was followed by ESL and cultural orientation instruction with Save the Children in a refugee camp in central Thailand.

Pastor Lynn has been married to Dale Stanton-Hoyle for 23 years and they have two college age children Eric and Sara.

Pastor Lewis

Pastor Lewis

Pastor Lewis serves as a parish associate assisting in teaching Bible study classes, in conducting worship and occasionally preaching.  He lived in Iran as a missionary and overseas associate in mission for almost twenty years.  While there, he initiated a program to develop a new translation of the Bible into modern Persian. He has also been a practicing lawyer.  He has served several churches as interim pastor and has served National Capital Presbytery as member and clerk of its Permanent Judicial Commission.

Pastor Lewis enjoys the fellowship of the men who meet monthly for breakfast and engage in Bible study or study of Christian theology.  He enjoys growing with church members in living the life in Christ and singing the hymns of our faith.  He is married to Parvaneh Assad who became a Christian and married Lewis in Iran after the death of Lewis' first wife Dr. Margaret Bailey Johnson.  Lewis has two grown children, six grandchildren and one stepson.
